Q&A
What's an assembly like?
Assembly presentations include highly interactive explanations of museum artifacts, a traditional Native American story, a song and/or dance.
What's a day of workshops like?
You choose a grade level. We spend all day with your students in workshops that include: Museum presentation with a small group, traditional games and stories, craft activities, music and dance.
What is the educational value of these programs?
The Eastern Woodlands program is curriculum-specific for 4th grade in New York state, and for 3rd grade in Connecticut. Both the Plains and Eastern Woodlands programs have additional curriculum tie-ins for grades K-5. These connections are made through a number of themes in our programs including: Legends and folklore; community; leadership; character development; anti-bullying; nature and natural resources; earth studies; and government.
Will my students enjoy the presentation?
Perhaps the words we hear over and over by students themselves sum up the answer best: "This was the best day in school EVER!", and "I wish it wasn't over!", and "I wish I could live like Native Americans!"
What if I like the idea, but I'm not sure if it's right for my school?
Call to schedule a day when you can come view a program near your location (We visit well over 200 schools per year, so chances are we will be near your home very soon).
